Podcast now available from last nights FCC Public Hearing Workshop!

Despite having just five business days to prepare, community leaders from across the Northwest will travel to Seattle today to testify at the Federal Communications Commission’s final public hearing on media ownership. The hearing, which will take place from 4pm-11pm today at Town Hall Seattle, will allow members of the public a rare opportunity to weigh in on proposals that would dramatically change federal rules setting limits on consolidated media ownership. One significant proposed change would allow one media company to consolidate a town or city’s newspaper, TV and radio station under single ownership and single editorial control.

Hundreds are expected to attend the hearing, which will include opportunities for open-microphone public testimony on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about the hearing and its schedule, visit www.reclaimthemedia.org.

Hollow Earth Radio hosted an on-air workshop and discussion about this FCC hearing last night. This workshop will re-air today at noon (PST) on Hollow Earth Radio, and is available to download here.

Thanks to Roger Fulton for cleaning up the audio and helping make this available.
