Upcoming “Live” Guests On The Corner Pocket Program!

Hello, y’alls! So, back when this show was on KUGS, we had a wonderful co-host and audio engineer (Jackson of Racetrack fame) who helped make dozens of great live performances sound rad on the show… But now that we are with Hollow Earth, which is a good 10 dozen miles from most the bands the show focuses on, we have struggled at the onset to find a way to do “live” musical performances. What it finally got simmered down to, after realizing how resource-ridiculous it would be to have bellingham bands drive to seattle to do a live radio performance, was that I would bus up to Bellingham to pre-record “Live” performances that would be air-ed on upcoming shows at the station. More than likely there will be times that Northlands folks will be down in the Seattle area, and we will do our best to grab them for a Live visit to the show, but for now the best idea seems to be to pre-record these babies and then broadcast them later. We are excited to have meet Kyle and Graham of American Field Recordings (whose studio includes mostly gear from before 1960) and stoked to have them as our primary engineers for these early performances. Their gear could probably not handle a Full Frontal Assault or Wastelanders set, but they are committed to helping as best they can capture artists whose decibel levels wouldn’t shatter old grannys brain-drums. We will do our best to have a live musical performance for each show, and for now we are super-stoked to announce this line-up, starting 2pm on tomorrow’s show (rebroadcast Saturday at 5pm).

JANUARY 24TH & JANUARY 26TH: JONATHAN MCINTYRE

Jon is a long-time buddy of mine and a dedicated B’hammer. I have been lucky to watch his songwriting progress from its infancy, as we used to play open mics together years ago, and he continues to be one of the most heartfelt, passionate and articulate songwriters I know. I have known him to be a big fan of The Secret Stars/Geoff Farina, Ida, Pedro The Lion/David, Joni Mitchell, among many others. He counts many local bands as good friends and played with the now-defunct Snow Cuts Glass. His songs are emotional, often filled with spaces, sometimes electric/sometimes acoustic but always honest, sometimes brutally so. He has well over five albums/ep’s he has self-released, including two christmas albums, and has toured the country more than once. You can find him in a couple incarnations on the ol’myspace here: www.myspace.com/jonathanmcintyre, www.myspace.com/stenographer (a concept-based solo project), www.snowcutsglass.net.

Upcoming Guests:
January 31st & February 2nd: Go Slowpoke
February 7th and February 9th: Jenni Potts
